I’m a British former television news anchor and technology journalist who’s lived and worked on three continents. My reporting spans French presidential elections, the Arab Spring, and police brutality protests.
Now, as a trainee User Experience designer, I want my work, quite simply, to make people’s lives better. Great interactions are the ones you almost don’t notice, but that leave you feeling oddly satisfied. They should be seamless, oh-so-easy — even 99% invisible, you might say.
I’m a design thinker which means I’m all for rapid prototyping, feedback, iteration, and failing fast. I firmly believe that
a) the user is the hero of every design,
b) every design starts with empathy.
My background as a journalist and storyteller has kept me curious, sharpened my communication skills, and ensured I can read between the lines. It’s taught me that strong opinions must be loosely held—which is important in design where you often have to let ideas go. It’s helped me to keep the human being at the center of the narrative to fully illuminate the impact of a problem.
I live in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. In my spare time I like to swing dance, explore nature with my family, and listen to as many podcasts as my ears can handle. Having worked in radio for many years, I’m always interested in audio design, and, these days, how to create conversational UX/UI.
